Make the pickup location unambiguous
Use your actual Maui town or community, then provide the address directly to the provider when scope is being confirmed. Mention whether any goods are stored somewhere else. Do not rely on an island name to describe the collection work.
If the property has a gate, shared driveway or specific receiving instructions, explain who can grant access and when. Ask the provider to confirm service for the exact location.
Describe the property approach
Note narrow turns, driveway clearance, stairs and the distance between unloading space and the door. Ask what information or photos the provider needs to assess the approach. If you rent, confirm any move-out or loading rules with the property contact.
Keep the access description separate from the inventory. Both matter: a modest shipment can still require careful collection coordination.
Build an inventory that stays current
List furniture, boxes and specialty pieces by room, including outdoor goods. Mark items that will be sold or donated before pickup and provide an updated list when those decisions are final. Ask about preparation for fragile items and who supplies packing materials.
Coordinate collection and the next stage
Ask who communicates the pickup window, where responsibilities transfer and how you receive progress updates. The proposal should explain the services you are purchasing and any handling or storage that is part of the arrangement. Plan personal travel around provider-confirmed information while keeping essentials with you.
Prepare the mainland receiving side
